The Mayor is a six day trade mission to China, flying the flag for British industry in a country that is increasingly enthusiastic to invest in the UK.

Talking to reporters at an event to promote British brands in Beijing, he said: "My strong advice to all my friends here, is to buy British, eat British, drink British, think British and indeed come to London."

He also got the chance to again display his musical skills, playing the drums alongside alongside businessman Lord Sassoon in China's largest shopping centre.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne, who is also a week-long visit to China earlier announced an £800 million British-China joint venture to develop land around Manchester Airport.
